Alexandre BERTRAND (1822-1889), attributed... - Lot 36 - Marie-Saint Germain
Alexandre BERTRAND (1822-1889), attributed to. The Reader, 1853-1854. Stereoscopic daguerreotype finely enhanced in color, produced on 2/6 plate, stamped by Gaudin, with hammered corners, 8.2 x 17 cm. In Early erotic photography, published in 1993, Serge Nazarieff mentions the first name Augustine for this model, without further justification. Denis Pellerin chose to refer to it as "L'Augustine de Nazarieff". In his model La Maison Gouin, Nazarieff specifies that Augustine posed "between 1854 and 1857 for most of the nude photographers: Belloc, Bertrand, Laure and Braquehais, D uboscq, Moulin and d'Olivier." Provenance: Serge Nazarieff Collection, Geneva. Bibliography: Serge Nazarieff. Early erotic photography, Taschen, 1993, reproduced on page 83, and described on page 85, with attribution to Louis Jules Duboscq-Soleil. Denis Pellerin, Le Nu stéréoscopique, les modèles et leur histoire, BEA + Polyverlags AG, 2020, pages 72-79.
