Olifant (or oliphant), or hunting horn in boiled and stamped leather,
Antique work in the taste of the Middle Ages
An instrument made famous in the chanson de geste, the olifant, a member of the horn family, is often an emblematic or even sacred symbol, like Charlemagne's horn in the Musée de Cluny. Boiled leather objects were common in the Middle Ages, but became obsolete with the gradual arrival of gunpowder and technical improvements, disappearing in the 17th century.
