In-4 paperback, 361 pages, black printed filled cover (spine detached, trace of adhesive on cover). First edition of Pierre Louÿs' masterpiece, published in 1926. First publication of Pierre Louÿs' erotic manuscripts. At the time, in order to prove that this was indeed a text revealing the existence of pornographic texts written by the author of La Femme et le pantin, the text, printed in violet, was a facsimile of the manuscript. Printed in a very small number and not commercially available, on Arches paper watermarked Syuol Erreip (i.e. Pierre Louÿs, written backwards). Bibliography: Pia 1445, Dutel 2516.
