Anne DESCLOS, known as Dominique AURY (1907-1998).... - Lot 306 - Marie-Saint Germain
Anne DESCLOS, known as Dominique AURY (1907-1998). 3 handwritten notebooks. Diary from June 23 to October 23, 1940 (Sunday June 23 to Sunday June 30 - Tuesday July 2 to Saturday July 13 - Tuesday July 16 to Wednesday October 23). During her flight from Paris after the arrival of the Germans in the capital, she recounts her journey between Montargis and Gien. She talks about her daily life, the news she hears on the radio and reads in newspapers and on posters. Most of the time she talks to Jacques, who is still in Paris, and to whom she sends many letters, some of which go unanswered. She worries about those left behind in Paris. On July 14, she mentions what she heard on the radio about the German parade on the Champs-Élysées planned for the national holiday, but above all expresses her distrust of the information being broadcast. In addition to her daily life during the war, she also tells the stories of people she meets, other citizens who have fled their homes, shopkeepers and workers forced to support German troops on a daily basis. In these notebooks, a few poems are added to her daily diary and the stories of these encounters.
