central india. Probably Datia. Three miniatures with erotic scenes, 19th century. Polychrome pigments and gold on paper, 24 x 16.5 cm. Each of these three miniatures depicts an erotic scene on the terrace of a pavilion. They are mounted on a midnight-blue margin, with a white Sanskrit inscription at the top of the page. The dark midnight-blue margins, palette and treatment of faces and vegetation are similar to a series of Sat Sai paintings by Bihari, probably executed at Datia in Bundelkhand. A similar series is published in: SEITZ Konrad (2015), Orchha, Datia, Panna : Miniaturen von den rajputischen Höfen Bundelkhands 1580 - 1850, Band II, Hanstein Verlag, p. 222.
