INDIA. Orissa, probably Puri. Suite of twelve erotic paintings on heavy canvas, late 19th century. Polychrome pigments on canvas, 23 x 23 cm. These paintings on thick canvas depict couples in richly ornamented architecture, typical of the Orissa style. These paintings are related to images associated with the Jagannath temple in Puri.
