Louis Camille d'OLIVIER (1827-1870), attributed to. The Origin of the World, circa 1854. Stereoscopic daguerreotype enhanced in color, produced on 1/3 or 2/6 plate, 8.9 x 17 cm. It was most likely this type of obscene image that inspired Gustave Courbet to compose L'Origine du monde in 1866, some ten years after the images created by Belloc, Moulin and d'Olivier.
