                        Auguste BELLOC (1805-1873), attributed to. Study of a female nude, between 1851 and 1855. Stereoscopic daguerreotype finely enhanced in color, produced on 1/3 or 2/6 plate, 8.5 x 17.4 cm. The model is Delphine Rosa Herbert, born in 1839. According to Denis Pellerin and BB3, Delphine was arrested in 1858 after posing nude for Eugène Darnay. She was sentenced to a month's imprisonment at Saint-Lazare. In 1860, she was summoned twice by the police. Less than a month later, she was arrested in her lover's apartment after it was discovered that she had modeled for Auguste Belloc. After her release in 1861, she gave up modeling and married. Provenance: Serge Nazarieff Collection, Geneva.
