Alexis GOUIN (1799-1855), attributed to.... - Lot 22 - Marie-Saint Germain
Alexis GOUIN (1799-1855), attributed to. La Lettre, circa 1850-1855. Stereoscopic daguerreotype finely enhanced in color, produced on 1/3 or 2/6 plate, 8.5 x 17.4 cm. Enhanced by Laure or Marie Gouin. The same model, chair and probably curtain can be found in the image reproduced by Serge Nazarieff, Early erotic photography, Taschen, 1993, page 99, where he confirms the attribution to Alexis Gouin. This image is very typical of Alexis Gouin's work. In Serge Nazarieff, Maison Gouin (maquette), we find elements that appear on this daguerreotype. The same chair appears in the images reproduced on pages 32, 33 and 34. The pearl necklace, with a cross, appears on the images reproduced on pages 22, 29, 30 and 35. This daguerreotype bears on the reverse the handwritten note by Serge Nazarieff, "Alexis Gouin, att, 30/03/96". Bibliography: The decor is similar to the images reproduced by Denis Pellerin in Le Nu stéréoscopique, les modèles et leur histoire, BEA + Polyverlags AG, 2020, pages 55 and 92.
