INCOHERENT ARTS. Serge de SAZO (1915-2012). Combat de nègres sous un tunnel, circa 1950. Vintage silver print mounted on card, 26.4 x 20.6 cm. Photographer's stamp on verso. Homage to the Incohérents. In 1882, on the occasion of the first "Exposition des Arts incohérents", Parisians were able to admire a black painting surrounded by a gilded frame, a work by the poet Paul Bilhaud (1854-1933) entitled "Combat de nègres dans une cave pendant la nuit". Next came "Carré noir sur fond blanc", an oil on canvas painted by Kasimir Malevitch in 1915.
