RENAULT (20th century). Venice, 1987. Watercolor on paper, 16 x 22 cm. Signed and dated 19.4.87 lower right. Label on verso. Portrait, 1986. Linocut, 51 x 36 cm. Signed and dated lower right. Provenance: Odette Charpentier collection, neighbor and friend of the artist, living in "Montmartre aux artistes". "Europe's largest artists' city" - abbreviated MAA -, was built in 1933, on land freed by the destruction of the Montmartre maquis. It housed up to 180 artists and their families. This work of art has never left this singular place, a crossroads of great fraternity and numerous exchanges.
