Eugene ATGET (1857-1927). Paris, Opéra Garnier and petit mét - Lot 156
Eugene ATGET (1857-1927). Paris, Opéra Garnier and petit métier, circa 1920. Vintage print on matte aristotype paper from a gelatino-bromide glass negative, 18 x 23.8 cm. Blank back. Eugène Atget uses an 18 x 24 cm wooden darkroom equipped with a lens that corrects spherical aberrations (known as a rectilinear lens). He used gelatino-bromide-sensitized glass plates as negatives, and produced his positives on albumen paper. Later, he also used gelatino-chloride paper.
