OPERA. VISITING CARD WITH DISPATCH. Jules-Célestin DEVOYOD (1841-1901), baritone. Cabinet card, vintage silver print mounted on Alphonse Bernoud card, 10.5 x 6.4 cm. Sent to Bordeaux maestro Charles Calendini, conductor of the Folies-Bordelaises. Devoyod had an international career: New Orleans (1873), Brussels (1874 to 1881), Moscow and St. Petersburg (1881 to 1883), London (1883) then Lisbon, where he created Laureano (Augusto Machado). Then Convent Garden in July 1884, Lisbon in March 1885, etc., etc. In Russia, he married the famous singer Hélène Orchakov de Smelski.
