2 PRINTS. PAYRAM (born 1959). Syrie 55, Soap, Stone, Metal. - Lot 597
2 PRINTS. PAYRAM (born 1959). Syrie 55, Soap, Stone, Metal. Gang Edition, 2011. 3 volumes, 14 x 24 cm. In a titled cardboard box. Attached: A vintage silver print, 30.2 x 24 cm. Signed, numbered 61/80, dated 2012 and titled Syrie 55. Payram is a photographer born in Teheran in 1959 and living in Paris. Since leaving Iran in 1983, driven out by the Islamic revolution, he has developed a body of photographic work around the fragility of his condition as an exile, which he parallels with the fragility of the silver medium. Payram went to Aleppo for the first time in 2001. He would return to Syria regularly over the next ten years, accompanied by Nicolas Cartier, whose texts introduce each of the three books. The three series of Polaroids reproduced in this boxed set are the result of these visits. Joint: Liza NGUYEN. My Father (1947-2001). Éditions Schaden, 2006. In-4 Italian style, hardback, slipcase. Edition of 25 copies (+5 ap.). Signed by the artist on the last page. With a c-print, 19 x 22 cm, label signed by the artist and numbered 4/25.
