Signed and dated at the top of the work. Born into a famous family of shipowners from Nantes, Loïc Dubigeon was destined for a career as an architect. But he was drawn to the world of art, and became famous for his palette, the scarves he designed for Hermès, and his erotic illustrations. Bibliography: Loïc Dubigeon, Manuel de civilité à l'usage des grandes filles d'après Pierre Louÿs, éditions Astarté, 1997. Reproduced on page 75, illustrating the moralizing quatrain: "Don't expect a chambermaid to make you pussy more than twice a day. You mustn't tire the servants".
