Anthony Christian HOWARD (b. 1945). Tryptique, circa 1975. Pink pencil drawing, 55.5 x 101 cm. Anthony Christian Howard became very famous in London in the late 1950s, when he was discovered at the age of 13, perfectly reproducing paintings in the National Gallery. He was the subject of numerous press articles calling him "the" painter prodigy. From 1965 onwards, he was the darling of the international Gotha, painting portraits of dozens of prominent members of the jet set. He settled successively in Morocco, Bali, where he created a museum dedicated to his work, and finally New York in the 1990s. This triptych is one of his first attempts at erotic art, in which he has excelled ever since, alongside his worldly work.
