Cross of the partisans of the Comte de Chambord in - Lot 41
Cross of the partisans of the Comte de Chambord in white and blue enameled brass. Attributed to Marc Gueyton, Paris, circa 1870. Very good condition. These crosses were made in royalist and legitimist circles in Paris. Of various designs, they were generally adorned with fleurs-de-lys on which one could read "La parole à la France. L'heure à Dieu" to rally the monarchical cause around the Duc de Bordeaux, son of the Duchesse de Berry and future Henry V. These crosses, of which there are several models, were made in Paris by goldsmith Marc Geyton, who supplied Napoleon III. The Chambord Cross gave rise to the creation of ornaments sold locally or through press advertisements. One of these ornaments is currently on display at the Palais des rois de Majorque. kings of Majorca, while others are in private hands. Provenance: acquired by Mr. L., and exhibited in a Musée bourguignon until today.
