Henri de TOULOUSE-LAUTREC in a Balloon [?]... - Lot 260 - Marie-Saint Germain
Henri de TOULOUSE-LAUTREC in a Balloon [?] Vintage silver print, 21.8 x 16.9 cm. In the basket, a small man, who arrives at the height of the shoulder of his neighbor, of normal height. So about 1m50. He wears a beard, a hat, a black suit. Just like the famous painter used to do. As for the height, he was 1m52. In the background of the picture, a banner confirming that the balloon belongs to Gabriel Yon and Louis Goddard. It is probably their captive balloon which was installed on avenue Kléber, from 1888. It seems that the date of 1898 is mentioned in the negative, in the upper middle. There is no evidence today that this is - or is not - Toulouse-Lautrec. To be continued...
