Paul MORAND - [Gaston-Louis ROUX]. Les Plaisirs... - Lot 386 - Marie-Saint Germain
Paul MORAND - [Gaston-Louis ROUX]. Les Plaisirs rhénans, with seven original hand-coloured lithographs. Dusseldorf, Librairie Léocadia [René Bonnel, Paris, 1926]. In-4 of 28 ff. with black printed cover. Illustrated with 7 original lithographs in colours by Gaston-Louis Roux, printed on the presses of Mme Duchatel. Edition : 7 copies on old Japon. 100 copies on Arches vellum. Copy n° 1. Enriched with a letter from Paul Morand, from Rouen, and addressed to Monsieur Jean Goudredon, identified in pencil as Daragnès, living in Holland, and with an original drawing in coloured pencils. It concerns two short stories taken from L'Europe galante published by Bernard Grasset in 1925: Les Plaisirs rhénans and Éloge de la Marquise de Beausemblant. Grasset filed a complaint against X for forgery, but the investigation was unsuccessful. One of the characters, undergoing a pleasant fellatio, represented on one of the lithographs, looks very much like Paul Morand who had taken offence. Pia 1142, Dutel 2215.
