[Pierre MAC ORLAN - Léon COURBOULEIX]. Little... - Lot 318 - Marie-Saint Germain
[Pierre MAC ORLAN - Léon COURBOULEIX]. Little cousins. Erotic memories of a man of quality touching the pretty little cousins, the handymen, the women of the world and the beautiful girls of the provinces. At the expense of an amateur and for his friends. [Paul Cotinaud, circa 1933]. In-4 of 113 pages (folder, case). Illustrated with 10 doll-coloured etchings by Léon Courbouleix. Limited edition of 270 copies. One of the 250 on Arches vellum. Léon Courbouleix' (1887-1972) career as an illustrator began with the publication of drawings, between 1913 and 1920, in the satirical newspapers Pages folles and Le Bon Temps. After the Great War, Courbouleix worked for several publishers. He illustrated texts from classical and religious literature - Balzac, Baudelaire, Saint Jean, etc. - and also illustrated the texts of the French Revolution. It was probably in the early 1920s that he specialized in engraving and set up his presses in Montrouge, a stone's throw from the Porte de Montrouge to the Porte d'Orléans. While producing classic works on his own account, drawn from the works of Flaubert, Villon, Musset, Voltaire, Ronsard, etc., he also successfully tried his hand at clandestine luxury publishing. Dutel 2178, not at the Enfer de la BnF.
