Volume in-folio, 33.5 x 24 cm, 46 pages. Brown half-brown grief, spine ribbed, cover preserved (old binding). Copy enriched with a tabbed letter before the false title, in which Verlaine supports Henri d'Argis (pseudonym of Alphonse Berty) in his request for a frontispiece: "Paris le 27 juillet. My dear Mr. Rops, I have the pleasure of introducing you to my friend Henri d'Argis, author of a novel, Sodom, of which I wrote the preface, and who would be proud to have a frontispiece signed by you. He will go to see you next Tuesday and would be happy if you could fix a time for him to speak to you at some length, - unless from now on, even without knowing the work, it bothers you, your silence would serve as a meeting place for him. Your friend P. Verlaine, 14 rue Roger Collard. The address of M. d'Argis is: 21 rue Denfert Rochereau. "Original edition. Original frontispiece engraved with etching by Félicien Rops.
