Pierre BESSARD (born 1969). Les Dogon de la falaise de Sandi - Lot 589
Pierre BESSARD (born 1969). Les Dogon de la falaise de Sandiagara, circa 2010. Four-color direct charcoal print, known as the Fresson process, 23 x 29 cm on view. Label captioned and signed on verso of frame. The Dogon people live in the region known as Pays Dogon, which stretches from the Bandiagara cliff to the southwestern loop of the Niger. The Fresson process is a photographic printing technique developed in 1952 by Pierre Fresson and his son Michel Fresson, for the production of color photographic prints. It is based on the monochrome "carbon-satin" process invented in 1899 by their grandfather Théodore-Henri Fresson.
