Eugène ATGET (1857-1927). Corot Pond, Ville d'Avray, 1923-1925. Vintage albumen print, 17.8 x 23 cm. From a gelatino-bromide glass negative numbered 1217. Photographer's stamp in black ink on verso "17bis, rue Campagne-Première". A pinhole in the upper left corner, small defect in the upper right corner. This location was a favorite of landscape painter Camille Corot, so the pond is referred to as "Corot's pond". Bibliography: Szarkowski-Morris Hamburg, I, pages 132-135.
