Count Robert de MONTESQUIOU (1855-1921) and various aristocrats. 2 albums containing 195 period silver prints, approx. 9.5 x 9.5 cm, captioned in pen under each print. The man of letters Robert de Montesquiou, poet, dandy and art and literature critic, is said to have served as a model for des Esseintes in Huysmans' À Rebours and Jean Lorrain's Monsieur de Phocas. He also provided Marcel Proust with one of the models for Baron de Charlus in À la recherche du temps perdu, which infuriated him despite Proust's denials. Provenance: de Montmorency family.
