Les portraits de la marquise. Comedy in three tableaux Paris, Imprimerie Impériale, 1862; in-4°, sheets FIRST EDITION PRINTED IN SMALL NUMBERS FOR THE EMPEROR'S AND EMPRESS'S GUESTS AT COMPIÈGNE. Octave Feuillet was one of Empress Eugenie's confidants, organizing entertainments and comedies at the Tuileries, Compiègne and Fontainebleau. The play was written by Feuillet for the Empress, who played the lead role in the small theater set up in the Emperor's dining room at Compiègne. Sent by the author to Madame A. Lecardonel
