Sarah BERNHARDT (1844-1923), creator of the star system, actress, painter and sculptor. Nude with fan, circa 1860. Later silver negative, 16.7 x 11.7 cm. The great Sarah began her career in the company of two Second Empire courtesans, her mother and her aunt. A protégé of the Duc de Morny, she satisfied her first needs with her body, of which this is the only known nude.
